Privacy Policy for Spark – Story Craft Dices
Effective date and last updated: August 4, 2026
1. Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy explains how Spark – Story Craft Dices (“Spark”, the “App”) processes information when you use the App. Spark is developed and published by BetaZetaDev (“we”, “us” or “our”), based in Spain. BetaZetaDev is the controller of the processing described in this Policy, except where a third-party provider acts as an independent controller under its own terms.
Spark can be used without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, postal address or photographs, and we do not collect your contacts, payment-card information or the content of stories you create.
Please read this Policy before using Spark. Where consent is required, we will ask for it separately; merely using the App does not constitute consent to optional analytics or personalised advertising.
Your use of Spark is also governed by the Terms of Service.
2. Information processed
Depending on your device, region, privacy choices and use of Spark, the following categories may be processed:
2.1 Usage and analytics data
If analytics collection is enabled, Firebase Analytics may process:
- App-instance and other pseudonymous identifiers;
- session start, duration and active-use time;
- screens viewed;
- dice rolls and general feature usage;
- dice-pack previews;
- the start and result of purchase flows;
- App version, operating system, device type, language, approximate region and other technical or diagnostic information.
We use event names and parameters designed not to include your name, email address, story content or other information you enter into the App. Although we use these data in aggregated reports and do not use them to identify you directly, technical and pseudonymous identifiers may qualify as personal data under applicable law.
2.2 Purchases and entitlements
When you buy or restore a dice pack, the relevant store and RevenueCat may process:
- an anonymous App user identifier;
- product and entitlement identifiers;
- purchase status, date, price and currency;
- Apple transaction receipts or Google Play purchase tokens;
- device, platform and App-version information; and
- information needed to validate a purchase, prevent fraud and restore your entitlement.
Payments are processed by Apple or Google. We and RevenueCat do not receive or store your full payment-card details. RevenueCat manages purchase validation and the status of the packs you own.
2.3 Advertising and consent data
For users who do not own any premium dice pack, Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) may process information needed to request, deliver, measure and secure interstitial advertisements, including:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- advertising, app-instance or device identifiers, where permitted;
- device and operating-system information;
- ad impressions, interactions and diagnostic data; and
- information used for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, fraud prevention and abuse detection.
Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalised, non-personalised or limited. Personalised ads may use previous activity, interests, approximate location or demographic inferences. Non-personalised ads are selected mainly from contextual information, but may still use identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping and aggregated reporting. Limited ads use more restricted data, although an IP address remains necessary to transmit an ad and some storage may be used for invalid-traffic protection.
Google User Messaging Platform (“UMP”) may store and communicate your consent choices, the date and version of the consent message, applicable regulatory region and consent strings or signals. Advertising consent is managed independently from analytics consent.
We only request ads when permitted by applicable law and the available consent signals. Spark displays interstitial ads only; it does not use banner or rewarded ads. Buying any one premium dice pack permanently disables advertising in Spark for that entitlement.
2.4 Information we do not collect
Spark is not designed to collect:
- your name, email address or postal address;
- photographs or contacts;
- the content of stories you create;
- precise GPS location;
- health or biometric information; or
- bank-account or payment-card details.
Please do not include personal or sensitive information in any support request unless it is necessary for us to address your request.
3. Purposes and legal bases
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Information involved | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the App and save or restore premium entitlements | Purchase, entitlement and necessary technical data | Performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract |
| Measure use and improve Spark through Firebase Analytics | Usage, app-instance and technical data | Consent where required; otherwise our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App |
| Request and deliver personalised advertising | Advertising identifiers, activity, consent and technical data | Consent |
| Deliver non-personalised or limited advertising | Contextual, consent and necessary technical data | Consent where required by ePrivacy or similar law; otherwise legitimate interests, subject to your rights and provider requirements |
| Manage and record privacy choices | Consent signals and related technical data | Compliance with legal obligations and, where applicable, legitimate interests in demonstrating compliance |
| Secure the App and prevent fraud or abuse | Purchase, advertising and diagnostic data | Legitimate interests in protecting users, the App and our business; compliance with legal obligations where applicable |
| Keep legally required records and respond to authorities or claims | Relevant transaction and request records | Compliance with legal obligations and establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the necessity and proportionality of the processing and its impact on your rights. You may object as explained below. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
4. Third-party services and disclosures
We disclose only the information needed for the purposes described above to:
- Google Firebase Analytics, for App usage measurement and reporting;
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and participating advertising technology providers, for ad delivery, measurement, frequency capping, security and fraud prevention;
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP), for privacy notices and consent management;
- RevenueCat, for purchase validation, entitlement management and restoration;
- Google Play Billing / Google Play, for Android purchases; and
- Apple App Store / StoreKit, for iOS purchases.
These providers may process information as our processors or service providers and, for some activities, as independent controllers or businesses under their own privacy notices. Their practices, retention settings and available controls may differ from ours:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Firebase privacy and security
- RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Google Payments Privacy Notice
- Apple Privacy Policy
We may also disclose relevant information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or a valid authority request, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition or transfer of the App. If ownership changes, the recipient must use the information consistently with this Policy until you are notified otherwise.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not disclose your name, email address or story content to advertising providers because Spark does not collect those data. Advertising disclosures may nevertheless be considered “sharing”, “targeted advertising” or a “sale” under some US state privacy laws; see Section 10.
5. Your privacy choices
Where required, Spark presents a UMP privacy form before requesting ads. The choices offered depend on your region and Google’s available message configuration. If required by applicable law, you can reopen the privacy options from the App’s privacy settings.
Analytics collection can be enabled or disabled according to your consent where legally required. Withdrawing analytics consent stops future optional analytics collection; it does not invalidate earlier lawful processing or automatically erase data already retained by a provider.
You can also limit advertising tracking through iOS or Android privacy settings. Purchasing any dice pack removes all ads from Spark, but does not by itself erase information previously processed.
6. Data retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:
- analytics and advertising data follow the retention controls and deletion practices configured for Firebase and AdMob;
- consent records may be retained while the choice remains relevant and afterwards as reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance;
- purchase and entitlement records may be retained while needed to provide and restore purchases, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and meet tax, accounting or other legal obligations; and
- correspondence about rights or support requests may be retained while needed to handle the request and establish compliance.
Retention periods may vary because Apple, Google and RevenueCat also apply their own retention policies. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed, unless law requires longer retention.
7. International data transfers
BetaZetaDev is based in Spain, while some providers or their infrastructure may be located outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where required, transfers are protected through an adequacy decision, the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or another lawful safeguard. Providers may also participate in a recognised data-transfer framework where applicable. You may contact us for information about the safeguard relevant to a transfer.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against accidental or unlawful loss, alteration, disclosure or access. We limit the data sent by Spark and rely on platform purchase systems rather than collecting payment-card details. However, no electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights in the EEA and United Kingdom
Subject to applicable conditions and exceptions, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data and receive a copy;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive data you provided in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
In Spain, the supervisory authority is the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). In the United Kingdom, it is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Because Spark does not require an account and mainly uses pseudonymous identifiers, we may need information such as your platform, App identifier, purchase transaction or support details to locate relevant records. We will only request information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfil your request. Some data controlled directly by Apple, Google or another provider must be requested from that provider.
10. California and other US state privacy rights
This section supplements the rest of the Policy for residents covered by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”), or similar US state laws.
In the preceding 12 months, depending on your use and choices, we may have collected the following statutory categories: identifiers (such as app-instance, device, advertising or purchase identifiers and IP address); commercial information (purchases and entitlements); internet or other electronic activity (App and ad interactions); approximate geolocation derived from IP address; and inferences used by advertising providers. We collect these categories from the App, your device, app stores and the providers listed in Section 4, and use or disclose them for the purposes in Sections 3 and 4.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through Spark for the purpose of inferring characteristics. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Subject to applicable thresholds, definitions and exceptions, you may request to know, access, correct or delete personal information and obtain information about its categories, sources, purposes and recipients. You may also opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Spark does not sell personal information for money. To exercise an opt-out concerning personalised advertising, use the privacy options available in Spark or your device settings. If those controls are unavailable or you wish to submit another request, contact us as set out in Section 13.
You may use an authorised agent where permitted by law. We may ask for signed authorisation and verification of your identity or authority. Where legally required and technically supported, we will also process applicable browser- or device-based opt-out preference signals.
11. Children’s privacy
Spark is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. In the EEA, United Kingdom or another jurisdiction that requires parental authorisation for a child’s consent, we will not rely on a child’s consent below the applicable age without the required authorisation.
If you believe a child has provided personal data through Spark, contact us. We will investigate and delete the information where required. Parents and guardians should supervise children’s use of the App, purchases and device privacy settings.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to Spark, providers or legal requirements. We will post the revised version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights or how information is used, we will provide additional notice in the App where required and request new consent when necessary.
